Toyota Celebrates 50th Anniversary in Canada
Scarborough-Guildwood has the good fortune to be the home to the head office of Toyota Canada.
This year, Toyota is celebrating its 50th anniversary in Canada.
It employs 24,000 Canadians and it has sold 4.6 million vehicles, manufactured in their award-winning Cambridge and Woodstock plants.
Toyoto is an environmental leader. The Toyota Evergreen Learning Grounds initiative has created green spaces at over 2,000 Canadian schools.
Among many of its research initiatives with Canadian universities, it created a Cold Weather Testing facility in Timmins, Ontario.
Toyota has sold 100,000 hybrids. In fact, seventy-five per cent of all hybrids sold in Canada are hybrid models.
I'm sure my colleagues in the House will join me in thanking Toyota for their investment in Candian industry and in building a greener economy.
Here's to 50 more succesful years. Thank you.
